The petitioner/A1 who was arrested and remanded to custody on 08.09.2022 for the offences registered under Sections 147, 148, 449, 307 and 302 of IPC, in Crime No.288 of 2022, seeks bail. Subsequently after completion of investigation, the final report had been filed and had been committed to the Court of Sessions and taken on file as S.C.No.6 of 2023 before the District and Sessions Judge, Nagapattinam, which is now pending for framing of charges.

2.It is contended by the learned counsel for the petitioner that all the accused have been granted bail except for this petitioner and A2, A6 and A7. In the course of the day today, this Court had also granted bail to A7 in Crl.O.P.No.21867 of 2023.

3.However, it is the case of the prosecution that on the specific direction of this particular accused that the other accused had been engaged to commit the offence of murder and also caused grievous injuries to yet another injured person.

4.It is stated that there is a business rivalry and also political rivalry.

vkr 5.Considering the grievous nature of the offence and the specific overt act as against the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
