O R D E R

The petitioner herein apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 126(2), 296(b), 118(1), 351(3) of BNS, in Crime No.279 of 2025 on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that, on 20.07.2025, the de-facto complainant was waiting near the Andakuppam bus stop to pick up his mother. At that time, the petitioner and the other co-accused persons, who were standing near a tea shop, called the de-facto complainant in a disrespectful manner. This led to a wordy quarrel between the de-facto complainant and the accused persons. In the course of the quarrel, the petitioner along with the other co-accused assaulted the de-facto complainant, abused him in filthy language, and threatened him with dire consequences. Hence, the case has been registered.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by any conditions that may be imposed by this Court. Hence, he prayed for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that, apart from this case, petitioner has five similar previous cases. He further submitted that the injured victim has been discharged from the hospital.

5. Heard the learned counsels on either side and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the nature of the crime and the antecedents of the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail.
