ORDER

The allegation in this case is that on 08.09.2020, when the Police party went on rounds, the accused persons were seen playing cards with money (Mangatha). Upon seeing the Police, they tried to run away and they were apprehended and a case was registered.

2. It can be seen that the F.I.R was registered on 08.09.2020 and the Page No.1 of 3

Final Report was filed on 23.09.2020 for the offence under Section 12 of the Tamil Nadu Gaming Act, 1930 and the same is pending for the past five years. So far summons have not been served. Even if summons are served on a future date, it will impinge upon the right to speedy trial to the accused. No useful purpose will be served in keeping the case pending.

3. Accordingly, the case in S.T.C.No.728 of 2021 on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate Court No.I, Ariyalur Taluk, Ariyalur, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 21.08.2025 grs electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
