The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police, for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 7(5), 20(2) of COTPA Act, r/w 123 of BNS 2023, in Crime No.287 of 2025, on the file of the respondent police, seek anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner was found in possession of banned tobacco products worth about Rs.3 lakhs.

3. The Learned Counsel for the petitioner submitted that the entire contraband was seized by the respondent police. Based on the confession given by the co-accused, the present petitioner has been falsely implicated.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent submits that the petitioner is the financier for the illicit transport of banned tobacco products and he having one previous case of similar nature.

5. Considering the antecedents, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
