ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu.W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025.

2. This case is registered for alleged offences under Section 294(b), 384, 506(i) of Indian Penal Code. The incident occurred in the year 2018. The defacto complainant, who was then working in the fish market, is not Page No.1 of 3

available. Accused 2 and 4 have died, and the other accused have been attending court regularly since 2019. Considering the factual matrix, context of the case, the antecedents of the accused, and the fact that despite best efforts a meaningful trial is not possible, it is evident that any continuation would impinge upon the right to a speedy trial.

3. Accordingly, the case in C.C.No.2070 of 2021 on the file of the XIV Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore Taluk, Chennai shall stands quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer Case stands disposed of. 02.09.2025 nsl electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary.
