Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to immediately bring out specific enforceable norms of a fixed time frame to complete the process of appointment of a Vice Chancellor of any state University so that there is no discontinuity or disruption in the effective functioning of State Universities in Tamil Nadu in order to protect the student community and higher education in Tamil Nadu

ORDER

2. We have heard Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, for respondents 1 to 3 and Mr.P.R.Gopinath, for the fourth respondent.
3. The petitioner seeks direction to bring out specific enforceable norms of a fixed time-frame to complete the process of appointment of Vice Chancellor of any State University.
4. Counter-affidavit is filed. Reference is made to the Tamil Nadu Universities (Amendment) Act, 2017, wherein time-frame is provided to start the process for appointment of Vice-Chancellor and to conclude the same.
5. Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, submits that in the year 2022 also, the Tamil Nadu Universities Laws Act was also introduced and it was passed by the Legislative Assembly.
6. In the light of the same, the writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
