ORDER

The allegations in this case are that on 15.02.2023, the accused protested against Police without due permission. A case was registered in Cr.No.16 of 2023 on 15.02.2023 for the alleged offences under Sections 143, 341 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The Final Report was laid on 12.09.2023 and the accused have been facing trial since then. Thus, it can be seen that the allegations concern exercising the democratic right to protest. Given the context and nature of the allegations, continuing the trial impinges on the right to a speedy trial of the accused. No useful purpose will be served by continuing the case.

2. Accordingly, the proceedings in S.T.C.No.312 of 2023 on the file of the District Munsif Cum Judicial Magistrate Court, Senthurai Taluk, Ariyalur, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. Page No.2 of 4
