The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 30.07.2025 for the offences punishable under Sections 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3,4 and 9 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act,(TNPCEI) in Crime No.63 of 2025 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

The case of the prosecution is that one Sivakumar, the husband of the defacto complainant committed suicide on 28.07.2025 and the suicide note indicates that the petitioner and others caused his death. The suicide note reveals that after advancing a loan of Rs.85,000/- to the deceased, the petitioner and others tortured him by demanding exorbitant interest and threatened him to take away his property.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner states that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He further submitted that the petitioner is in Jail from 30.7.2025.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that the 2/4

investigation is at very crucial stage. If the petitioner is released on bail, the witnesses will be tempered.

5. Considering the fact that it is the case of demand of exorbitant interest leading to suicidal death of the borrower, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed for the present.
