The petitioner challenges the proceedings dated 23.11.2017 issued by the first respondent, by which the petitioner was relieved from the post of Correspondent of the fourth respondent Institution.

2. The petitioner, while working as Headmaster, was appointed as Correspondent under the provisions of the Code of Regulations for AngloIndian Schools, Tamil Nadu, for the period from 01.06.2017 to 31.05.2018. However, the petitioner was unilaterally relieved from the said post by the impugned order without any prior notice and without affording any opportunity of hearing.

3. This Court, by order dated 19.12.2017, granted an interim stay of the impugned proceedings. Pursuant to the said interim order, the petitioner continued to hold the post of Correspondent and thereafter retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation.

4. In view of the above developments, the substantive relief sought in Page Nos.3/5

the writ petition no longer survives for adjudication on merits. However, it is evident that the impugned proceedings are not a speaking order and have been passed without providing any opportunity to the petitioner, thereby violating the principles of natural justice.

5. Accordingly, with the above observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
