The matter is placed before this Court based on the letter dated 22.02.2024 received from the learned Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, seeking extension of time to complete the proceedings in Special C.C.No.1 of 2019 on the file of the Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act Court, Coimbatore.

2. It is seen that this Court, while disposing the criminal original petition in Crl.O.P.No.29561 of 2019 on 08.06.2021 had directed the trial Court to give top priority and dispose the case within period of six months from the date of lifting of lock down and commencement of normal functioning of the Courts below. Subsequently, on the request made by the learned Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, on 16.08.2022, this Court, vide order dated 10.10.2022, had granted further period of six months to dispose the case. However, now the learned Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, had sent a letter in D.No.53/2024 dated 22.02.2024 seeking further time to complete the trial in Special C.C.No.1 of 2019 stating that out of 33 list witnesses, PW1 to PW19 have been examined. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

3. Considering the reasons and the request made by the learned Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, this Court feels it appropriate to extend the time by four months.

4. Accordingly, the time for disposing the case in Special C.C.No.1 of 2019 on the file of the learned Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, is further extended by four months from today. 18.03.2024 Note to office:- The Special Judge, Special Court for trial of Prevention of Corruption Act, Coimbatore, may be apprised of the extension of time forthwith.
