Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Court Act, 1971, to punish the respondents for wilful disobedience of the order passed by this Hon'ble Court in W.P.No.23803 of 2018 dated 25.01.2022. ORDER

This Contempt Petition is filed to punish the respondents for wilful disobedience of the order passed by this Hon'ble Court in W.P.No.23803 of 2018 dated 25.01.2022.

2. Pursuant to the order passed in the aforesaid order, the contemnor brought two Demand Drafts, one for a sum of Rs.3,75,000/- drawn at Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited, bearing No.000585, dated 27.01.2023, in favour of the Registrar General, High Court, Madras and another for a 2/5

sum of Rs.5,71,550/-, drawn at Indian Bank, bearing No.788052, in favour of Registrar General, High Court, Madras.

3. It is submitted by the learned counsel for the contemnor that total amount put together is Rs.9,46,550/-. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that total amount liable to be deposited with the Registrar General, High Court, Madras for the disbursement of the amount to the student is a sum of Rs.9,46,515/- only. Therefore, by depositing the amount, the direction of this Court has been duly complied.

4. Accordingly, this Contempt Petition is closed. After the receipt of said Demand Drafts, the Registrar General, High Court, Madras is directed to release the amount to the petitioners as per the order of this Court in W.P.No.23803 of 2018 dated 25.01.2022, within a period of four weeks. The respondents are directed to deposit the Demand Draft with the Registrar General, High Court, Madras and thereafter file the proof of the same by today (30.01.2023) itself.
