ORDER

This Suo Motu case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by this Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.)No.618 of 2025.

2. This case is registered in Cr. No.223 of 2022 dated 20.04.2022, for the alleged offence(s) under Section 420 of IPC, 1860 and Sections 5 and 7(3) of the Lotteries Regulation Act, 1998, regarding the allegation of selling lottery by noting down the serial numbers.

3. Considering the nature of the allegation and the accused facing the case since 2022, further continuation of the trial would impinge upon the right to a speedy trial of the accused. Continuing with the case would serve no useful purpose.

4. Accordingly S.T.C.No.1162 of 2022 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate No.I, Erode Taluk, Erode, stands quashed and the Suo Motu Transfer case is disposed of.

The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary.
