This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to register the complaint of the petitioner dated 21.11.2022 and investigate the same in accordance with law.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has given a complaint against his daughter-in-law Barathi by alleging that she is ill-treating himself and his wife, who is mentally disturbed; despite the same, no further action has been taken by the police so far. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that on the complaint given by the petitioner, current paper enquiry has been initiated in CSR.No.678 of 2022 and the same is pending.

5. Since the petitioner is a senior citizen, the second respondent is directed to complete the enquiry and do the needful in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is needless to say that while conducting enquiry, the first respondent shall adhere to the guidelines laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Lalita Kumar Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & another reported in 2014 (2) SCC 1.

6. This Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with the above directions.
