Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent/Southern Railway, produced the letter No.W.271/CN/TBM/CGL-VM/Land, dated 08.01.2024, which was communicated to the second respondent/ District Collector, Chengalpattu District and the same is taken on record.

Though, the learned Central Government Standing Counsel submitted that they have already calculated the amount which comes to Rs.7,39,461/- towards interest payment in compenstion and the same has been forwarded to the competent authority's sanction and the same is under process.

It is seen that though the amount has been calculated, the same has not been disbursed to the petitioner, hence, the first respondent is directed to pay the calculated compensation amount to the petitioner as mentioned in the letter dated 08.01.2024 produced before this Court, on or before 05.02.2024, failing which, the order dated 21.11.2023 passed in W.P.No.31334 of 2023 by this Court shall be treated as not complied with by the first respondent and this Court will initiate suo moto contempt proceeding as against the first respondent.
