ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025.

2. This case is registered for alleged offence under Section 5 and 6 TNRS Rules 4(1)(aaa) r/w 4(1-A) TNP Act (Transport) and 5 & 6 TNRS rules 4(1) (aaa) TNP Act (Transport). The incident occurred on 15.01.2014. The allegation in this case is that the accused tried to smuggle the liquor bottles that are sold from the Union Territory of Puducherry to Tamil Nadu. The liquor was seized and it was destroyed. The case is pending at the stage of Page No.1 of 3

fresh summons. As such, no useful purpose would be served in continuing the case further.

3. Accordingly, the case in C.C.No.600116 of 2016 of Judicial Magistrate Court No.I, Mayiladuthurai, Mayiladuthurai Taluk, Mayiladuthurai, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 02.09.2025 grs electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary.
