Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus forbearing the respondents 1 to 3 from appointing Vice-Chancellor, Anna University based upon the recommendation made by the Search Committee more particularly recommendation made by the 4th respondent who is the Syndicate Nominee of the Search Committee, whose appointment itself totally against the Statutory Provisions Section 11 (2) of the Anna University Act 1978.

2. We have heard Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, for respondents 1 & 2 and Mr.U.Bharanidharan, learned Additional Government Pleader, for the third respondent.

3. The petitioner seeks relief against respondents 1 to 3 from appointing Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, based upon the recommendation made by the Search Committee.

4. The writ petition is of the year 2017. Even otherwise, the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor is not more than four years.

5. With the passage of time, the relief claimed may not survive. The writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs. WMP Nos.14519 and 14520 of 2017 are closed.
