ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu.W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2.

The allegation in this case is that on 11.02.2016, the accused was found in possession of liquor bottles less than 4.5 litres, which is permitted for individual consumption. A case was registered in crime no.303 of 2016 for alleged offence under Section 4(1)(a), 4(1) ii, 4(1) k of Tamil Nadu Page No.1 of 3

Prohibition Act. It appears that the quantity is within the permissible limit for personal consumption. The accused has been facing proceedings since the year 2016. Considering the factual matrix and context, any further continuance of the proceedings will impinge upon the accused's right to a speedy trial. No useful purpose will be served by keeping the matter pending. 3.

Accordingly, the proceedings in C.C.No.630 of 2016 on the file of XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet Taluk, Chennai is quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of. 03.09.2025 veda electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
