ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu.W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2.

The allegation in this case is that on 17.10.2020, the accused has permitted some persons to consume liquor without any permission in his premises. A case was registered in crime no.1019 of 2020 for alleged offence under Section 4(1) k of Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act. The case is pending from Page No.1 of 3

the year 2020. Considering the factual matrix and context, any further continuance of the proceedings will impinge upon the accused's right to a speedy trial. No useful purpose will be served by keeping the matter pending. 3.

Accordingly, the proceedings in STC.No.79 of 2021 of Judicial Magistrate Court, Udhagamandalam Taluk, Nilgiris is quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of.

03.09.2025 veda electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
