Order The allegations in this case are that on 13.03.2017, the accused protested against the Government of Tamil Nadu, for non-distribution of essential commodities through fair price shop without due permission. A case was registered in Cr. No.578 of 2017 on 13.03.2017 for the alleged offences under Sections 341, 143, and 188 of IPC, 1860. The final report was filed on 22.09.2020, and the accused have been facing trial since then. Thus, it can be seen that the allegations concern exercising the democratic right to protest. Given the context and nature of the allegations, continuing the trial impinges on the right to a speedy trial of the accused. No useful purpose will be served by continuing the case.

Accordingly, the proceedings in C.C.No.1541 of 2020 on the file of XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet Taluk, Chennai, stands quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer case is disposed of. 03.09.2025 jd The Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
