ORDER
This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu.W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2.
This case is registered in Cr.No.517 of 2022, for the alleged offence under Section 12 of Tamil Nadu Gaming Act, 1930, regarding the allegation that the accused played rummy by betting with money and as such, they violated the Gaming Act. There is no other previous or subsequent case Page No.1 of 3
as against the accused and the case is pending from the year 2022. Considering the factual matrix and context, any further continuance of the proceedings will impinge upon the accused's right to a speedy trial. No useful purpose will be served by keeping the matter pending. 3.
Accordingly, the proceedings in C.C.No.2487 of 2022 of XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet Taluk, Chennai is quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of.
03.09.2025 veda electronically alone. The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
