ORDER
By consent of both the parties, this writ petition has been taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. Mr.A. Vinothraj, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.
2. This writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking direction to the respondent to pay the unpaid salary for the last ten days, prior to retirement with 10% interest to the petitioner.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.
4. The petitioner had joined the service of the respondent Corporation as a Trainee on 10.06.1986 and subsequently at the time of retirement, i.e., on 30.09.2016, he held the post of Senior Assistant Engineer. In those days, their monthly salary was calculated on calendar month basis i.e. from 1st to 30th of every month. After some time, the salary of employees of the respondent Corporation was calculated from 21st of previous month to 20th of next month. It is the grievance of the petitioner that though he served up to the end of retirement month i.e., on 30.09.2016, the respondent failed to calculate his last working salary for a period of 10 days. On coming to know about the aforesaid miscalculation, he submitted a representation to the respondent on 11.06.2024 seeking disbursal of the unpaid salary, as stated supra and sought interest @
10%. But till date, his representation was not considered and hence, he approached this Court by way of the present writ petition.

Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case, the respondent is directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner with regard to the unpaid salary for the last ten days, prior to his retirement with applicable interest, if any, and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of with the aforesaid directions. No costs.
