O R D E R

The petitioner herein seeks a direction to the respondents to pay compensation of Rs.20,00,000/- for the electrocution death of the petitioner's son viz., Vignesh on 31.12.2020 based on the representation dated 14.07.2022.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that the son of the petitioner viz., Vignesh died on 31.12.2020 due to electrocution. It is further stated that the electrocution had occurred due to the negligence on the part of the respondents in maintaining the electric power line. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation on 14.07.2022 to the respondents seeking compensation for the death of her son and the same has not been 2/6

considered till date, therefore, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

3. Heard the arguments of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.Swami Subramanian, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents.

4. The representation of the petitioner seeking compensation for the death of her son was submitted before the respondent as early as 14.07.2022. However, the same has not been considered till date. The respondents are not entitled to keep the representation pending without considering the same on its own merits. Therefore, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 14.07.2022 and pass final order on its own merits within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order after affording opportunity to the petitioner. In view of the fact, the representation of the petitioner was dated 14.07.2022, the petitioner is directed to furnish fresh copy of representation to the second respondent within a period of two weeks. The second respondent shall pass final orders as indicated above within a further period 3/6

of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
