The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B), 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 in Crime No.56 of 2023 seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) stated that the respondent police while conducting vehicle inspection at around 09.30 p.m., two persons were coming in a two wheeler from Puliyanthope towards Perimet. The person in the pillion ran away. The two wheeler was however intercepted and the driver of the two wheeler had been arrested. There was a bag which contained about 1 Kg of Ganja and three polythene covers containing Methamphetamine.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner stated that the petitioner is innocent and that he not at all at the scene of crime. He also contended that the FIR is foisted against the petitioner and no such contraband had been seized.

4. However, investigation on all these aspects have to be conducted and that cannot be done while the anticipatory bail granted. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
