JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM,J.) The appellants filed an affidavit on 07.04.2025 stating that they have deposited a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- in the name of the senior citizen, in pursuance of the orders of this Court dated 25.03.2025. Earlier, the appellants had deposited a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- to the senior citizen. Thus a total sum of Rs.20,00,000/- had been received by the senior citizen, which is not disputed by the learned counsel for the senior citizen. The appellants have further agreed that they will continue to pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- per month towards maintenance, as directed by the writ Court in its order dated 22.04.2024.

2. It is made clear that the appellants shall pay the maintenance

amount to the first respondent punctually on or before the 5th day of every English calendar month in the accounts of the senior citizen, failing which the senior citizen is at liberty to approach the District Collector concerned, who in turn shall invoke Rule 20 of the Tamil Nadu Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2009 and initiate all appropriate actions to ensure the security and dignity of the senior citizen as protected under the Act and Rules. In view of the consensus and agreement reached between the parties, no further adjudication needs to be undertaken. Accordingly, the writ appeal stands disposed of. Consequently, C.M.P.No.26487 of 2024 is closed. No costs.
