The challenge in the Writ Petition is to the communication by the Assistant Engineer (Operation & Maintenance), requiring the petitioner to take steps to satisfy one N.Kandhan, who has objected for grant of electricity service connection in favour of the petitioner. 2.Though the language used in the communication dated 21.11.2022, which is subject matter of challenge is not very clear. One could gather that it is because of the objections made by the said Kandhan the TANGEDCO has refused to provide service connection to the petitioner, despite the petitioner having complied with other requirements. 2/4
3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has produced the press release of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission dated 10.09.2020, which proivdes that in case of compliants/objections, connection can be given after taking an indemnity bond from the consumer. 4.In view of the same, this Writ Petition will stand allowed, the impugned communication is quashed, the respondents are directed to provide service connection to the petitioner, after obtaining an indemnity bond from the petitioner. No costs.
