ORDER
(Delivered by The Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) Mr.A.Arun Babu, learned counsel, accepts notice for the respondents 1 to 4, and Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, accepts notice for the respondents 5 and 6, and with the consent of either parties, the writ petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. Mr.P.James and his wife Mrs.J.Jansirani have jointly filed this writ petition seeking for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 4/Greater Chennai Corporation to lay the 20'feet wide road in the northern side of Subramaniapuram 2nd street, Chennai, comprised in T.S.No.124, Block No.9 of Kolathur Village, Ayanavaram Taluk, as requested by them vide their representations dated 14.03.2022 and 15.03.2022. 2/4
3. Learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the layout in T.S.No.122 was approved on 27.01.2001. However, inspite of the fact that the layout is approved one and road is found in all the revenue records, the the respondents 1 to 4/Greater Chennai Corporation had neglected to lay the road for the past several years. Therefore, the petitioners made representations dated 14.03.2022 and 15.03.2022 requesting officials of the Corporation to lay the road, but, till date no response is forthcoming from them. Hence, they have filed the present writ petition with a prayer cited supra.
4. As the prayer sought for in the writ petition is a narrow one, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the official respondents to consider the representations made by the petitioners dated 14.03.2022 and 15.03.2022 and pass orders in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With this direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No Costs. Consequently, connected W.M.P.No.2370 of 2023 is closed.
