(Order of the Court was made by S.S.SUNDAR, J.) 1.(a) W.M.P.No.31183 of 2023 in W.P.No.23732 of 2023 has been taken out by the petitioner herein, who is the grandson of the Convict Prisoner-Rathinam (Convict Prisoner No.20221), to extend the interim ordinary leave granted to the petitioner's grandfather / life convict for a period of 10 days.

(b) W.M.P.No.31186 of 2023 in W.P.No.23828 of 2023 has been taken out by the petitioner herein, who is the son of the Convict PrisonerPanchanathan (Convict Prisoner No.20222), to extend the interim ordinary leave granted to the petitioner's father / life convict for a period of 10 days.

2. Heard the learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents.

3. Due to paucity of time, we are unable to take up the main writ petitions. However, considering the facts narrated in the affidavits filed in support of the miscellaneous petitions and also the nature of illness suffered by the wife of the respective convict prisoners viz., cancer, the interim ordinary leave granted to the Convict Prisoners viz., Rathinam, aged 83 years, S/o Rengasamy (Convict Prisoner No.20221) and S.Panchanathan, aged 78 years, S/o Singaiya Devar (Convict Prisoner No.20222) vide the order of this Court dated 17.10.2023 in W.P.Nos.23732 & 23828 of 2023 for a period of 15 days i.e., from 20.10.2023 to 03.11.2023, without escort, is hereby extended for a further period of 20 days, even though the petitioners have sought for extension for a period of 10 days, on the following conditions:

(i) The Convict Prisoners shall be brought back to the Central Prison, Trichy on 22.11.2023 at 05.00 p.m.

(ii) The Convict Prisoners are directed to report before the Paravakkottai Police Station, Thiruvarur, twice a week i.e., on Monday and Friday at 05.00 p.m., during the period of leave. (iii) The Convict Prisoners shall utilize the leave only for the ground
