PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C, praying to direct the 2nd respondent herein to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.04.2019 seeking compensation under the Tamil Nadu Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013 in the light of the Government Order dated 30.11.2013 in G.O (MS) No.1055, Home (Police XX) issued by the Home Department (Police XII), Tamil Nadu Government.

O R D E R

The petitioner herein, by a representation dated 24.04.2019, had sought for compensation under the Tamil Nadu Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013. Since the representation has not been disposed of till date, the present petition has been filed.

2. It is needless to point out that whenever a 1/3

representation of this nature is made, the concerned authority is required to consider the petition in one way or the other without keeping it pending indefinitely. Since the representation is pending for the past more than 6 months, this Court is justified in directing the 2nd respondent herein, to consider the same within a time frame.

3. In the light of the above observations, there shall be a direction to the 2nd respondent herein to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.04.2019 on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
