ORDER

The petitioner seeks for the following relief: "to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st Respondent to dispose of the Second Appeal dated 12.05.2025 sent to the 1st Respondent by the Petitioner by registered post within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court."

2. The petitioner states he had presented a Second Appeal on 12.05.2025 before the first respondent. As he did not get any further updates on the same, he has been forced to move this Writ Petition for the aforesaid relief.

When the matter was taken up for admission, Mr.Vigneswaran Chandrasekaran, learned counsel appearing for the respondents states that after the Appeal had been received, processed and numbered as SA No.7803 of 2025. He points out that on account of the pandemic, the Commission is dealing with appeals from the year 2020-2021 presently. He states that the Appeal which is concerned with the present Writ Petition will be taken up according to the seniority.

4. I had heard Mr.K.R.Arun Shabari, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.C.Vignesvaran Chandrasekaran, learned counsel appearing for the respondents.

5. I have carefully considered the submissions. I have gone through the records.

6. The petitioner is a senior citizen. He has sought for certain information from the Revenue Department which has been denied. I appreciate the difficulty in which the Information Commission is placed. 3/6

However, the Commission is requested to consider the early disposal of the Appeal, taking into consideration that the appellant before it is a senior citizen of advanced age. It will be the desire of any litigant to see the end of the litigation during their life time.

7. Therefore, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to make on endeavor to dispose of the Appeal within a period of 12 weeks from the date of service of summons on the respondents in the Appeal.

8. The Writ Petition is ordered accordingly. There shall be no order as to costs.
