ORDER

Mr.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel, accepts notice for the respondents, being the Assistant and Executive Engineers of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).

The petitioner prays for a mandamus to R1 to provide electricity service connection to the petitioners shop at Survey No.3180/1, Commercial Complex in Shop No.19A, bearing Door No.71, New No.161,Baracha Road, Secretariat Colony, Kelly's, Chennai - 600 010 ('premises in question'). An application has been made before the authorities on 19.09.2023 in this regard. 3.

On instructions, Mr.Venkatesh, would submit that an objection is being raised by the land owner and it is based on this that application has not been processed thus far. 4.

Be that as it may, seeing as the application has been made as early as 19.09.2023, it is inappropriate for the authorities to keep the same pending and as it deserves to be disposed, one way or the other.

Hence mandamus is issued to R1 to hear the petitioner, land owner of the premises in question, as well as any other party that may be think necessary and dispose the application for electricity service connection in accordance with law and applicable regulations, all within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
