This petition has been filed seeking directions to the respondent police to file final report in Cr.No.305 of 2023.

According to learned counsel for the petitioners, the petitioners were arrested in connection with Crime No.305 of 2023 for the offence under Section 420 IPC and 66D of Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008, and even though bail was granted on 17.04.2024 by the learned Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai, since they could not execute the bail bond as ordered, they are still confined in prison. Further even though the case was registered on 20.12.2024, no effective steps have been taken by the respondent police to conduct investigation, due to which the petitioners, who are foreign nationals, could not return their mother country. Therefore the petitioners sought for directions to the first respondent police to file final report in Crime No.305 of 2023.

Learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the first respondent police would submit that the offence is related to cyber crime and materials has to be collected from Delhi, which requires a month time to complete 2/4

investigation.

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the first respondent police is directed file charge sheet as early as possible and within reasonable time.

With the above directions, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
