J U D G M E N T

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.) The claim of the petitioner to the post of Lecturer in Mathematics was rejected on the ground that the qualification obtained by the petitioner viz. Master of Science in Applied Science with Applied Mathematics is not equivalent to M.Sc. Mathematics.

2. The petitioner would rely upon the G.O.(Ms) No.58 that has been passed in the year 2013 stating that M.Sc. Applied Mathematics is equivalent to M.Sc. Mathematics. The resolution for issuing the Equivalent Certificate and the G.O. were passed only in the year 2013. The Notification of the Teachers Recruitment Board inviting applications is of 2/4

the year 2008 at which date there was no equivalence certificate. Whether a Degree obtained is equivalent to the required qualification or not is a matter that is to be decided by the Recruiting Agency and this Court cannot substitute its opinion.

3. Hence, we do not see any need to interfere with the order of the Writ Court, the Writ Appeal fails and it is accordingly dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
