Mr.Surya, learned counsel appearing on behalf of Ms.Aswini Devi, learned Standing Counsel accepts notice for the respondents and is armed with instructions to enable final disposal of this Writ Petition, even at the stage of admission.

The prayer of the petitioner is for a mandamus directing the respondents, being the Commissioner, Corporation of Chennai, City Health Officer/Registrar of Births and Deaths and Zonal Health officer of the Corporation of Greater Chennai, R1, R2 and R3 respectively, to correct father's name/petitioner's name as 'T.P.Deenadayalu' instead of 'Deenadayalan' and include the name of child 'Vimala' in the petitioner's daughter's birth certificate, registered on 14.07.1968 bearing No.COC/1968/HQ/073/0005230/0.

3. Learned counsel for the respondents would draw attention to the fact that the representation of the petitioner dated 10.08.2023 has not escaped the attention of the respondents and they had sought certain particulars in consideration of the petitioner's request on 21.08.2023. The petitioner has responded to that 2 / 4

communication on 23.08.2023. According to the petitioner, all the particulars sought had now been furnished to the respondents and there is no further hindrance in considering the request of the petitioner.

4. In light of the aforesaid circumstances, mandamus is issued to R2 to proceed with the consideration of the petitioner's request dated 10.08.2023 read with letter dated 23.08.2023, hear the petitioner and anybody else deemed necessary and make necessary amendments in the birth certificate of the petitioner's daughter, if found appropriate and in accordance with law, within a period of six (6) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order.
