The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 6(4), 7(1) (a) (ii) of TNSC (RDCS) Order, 1982, Essential Commodities Act, 1955, in Crime No.193 of 2023, on the file of the respondent police seeks anticipatory bail. 2.The learned counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. Thus, he prays for grant of anticipatory bail for the petitioner. 3.It is stated by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing on behalf of the respondent that the respondent while on patrol duty at Chennai to Bangalore Highway road, near Salem Bust stop, intercepted Swaraj Mazda vehicle and made a search and found PDS rice, totally measuring 7170 Kgs, worth about Rs.40,511/-. sli 4.Taking into consideration, the large quantity of the PDS rice, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
