PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of Criminal Procedure Code to direct the 1st respondent police to provide police protection to the petitioner and her family members.

(through Video Conference) This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking for a direction to direct the first respondent police to provide police protection to petitioner's life and to her family members. 2.Heard Mr.P.Balamurugan, learned Counsel appearing for the Petitioner and Mr.S.Karthikeyan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police. 3.It is the contention raised by the learned Counsel appearing for the Petitioner is that in respect to the dispute, having by him with the Respondent which relates to Diwali chit, the second respondent herein has threatened the Petitioner and therefore, it is necessary to direct the first respondent to provide police protection.

4.On the other hand, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondent police, on instructions, would submit that so far, no representation has been received from the Petitioner seeking police protection. He would further submit that during the relevant period, he had cheated the public by way of collecting chit amount. Further, in respect of the petition mentioned occurrence, the second respondent herein lodged a complaint against the Petitioner and in respect of the same, C.S.R., has also been issued in C.S.R.No.121 of 2019.

5.The submission made by the learned Counsel appearing on either side are considered. In general, in the absence of any representation, this Court cannot direct the police to provide police protection to the Petitioner. However, considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the Petitioner to prefer a fresh representation before the respondent police within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.Upon receipt of the same, the respondent police is directed to consider the said representation of the Petitioner along with enquiry pending in C.S.R.No.121 of 2019 which is initiated upon the complaint given by the second respondent and directed to dispose the same within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of complaint of the Petitioner. 7.With the above directions, this Petition is ordered.
