This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025. 2.The case, Cr.No.38 of 2021 was registered for the alleged offence under Section 4 (1) (a) of TN Prohibition Act. The occurrence is of the year 2021. The allegation in this case is that the accused was found in illegal possession of 8 IMFL bottles each containing 180ml. The same was recovered and seized. It appears that the quantity is within the permissible limit for personal consumption. The accused has been facing the proceedings since the year 2021. There is no previous or subsequent case against the accused. 3.Considering the nature of the allegation, the antecedents of the accused and since the accused has been facing the case since 2021, any further continuation of the trial would impinge upon his right to a speedy trial of the accused and no useful purpose would be served. 4.Accordingly, the case in S.T.C.757 of 2022 of Judicial Magistrate Court No-I, Udumalpet, Udumalpet Taluk, Tiruppur, stands quashed. This Suo Motu Transfer Case is disposed of.
