The writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.10.2019. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 15.10.2019.

2. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the petitioner is a Srilankan Citizen and she landed in India and married with an Indian Citizen viz., Robin Thomas. Out of the said wedlock, the petitioner had two children and they are studying in Chennai. Such being the position, the petitioner made a representation on 15.10.2019 to the respondents 1 to 3 seeking registration of her citizenship in India. However, the same has not considered till date and hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders within the stipulated time.

The learned Standing Counsel submitted that the Ministry of Home has launched an online portal (Immigration, Visa and Foreigners Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) for registration of the citizenship. The petitioner has to make an online application only through the portal and no manual applications can be entertained.

4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Government Counsel appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the limited request sought for by the petitioner, this Court directs the petitioner to make a fresh application through the online portal within a 3/6

period of two weeks from the date of receipt a copy of this order. Upon receipt of such application, the first respondent shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible.

6. With the above directions, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
