The petitioners seek anticipatory bail in Crime No.30 of 2023, registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 420, 294(b), 506(1) of IPC r/w Section 4 of TN Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002, and Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.

2.All the petitioners are accused 1 to 6. It is stated that an engagement had been conducted between the 1st petitioner and the defacto complainant and after that ceremony, there had been a breakdown in their relationship. The 1st petitioner has raised allegations against the character of the defacto complainant. As against the 1st petitioner also, the same allegations can be raised since, he had entered into a physical relationship with the defacto complainant. There is also specific allegation of demand of dowry by the defacto complainant. All these facts will have to be investigated.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioners stated that the 1st petitioner had attempted to commit suicide but it is not known whether it is because the marriage got frustrated and he wanted to live again with the defacto complainant or he did not want to live with the defacto complainant. That is an issue which the 1st petitioner can solve only by himself.

4.In view of all these facts, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners herein. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
