The matter is placed before this Court on the letter received from the Court below, seeking extension of time to complete the proceedings in Spl.C.C.No.9 of 2010 on the file of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate/Special Judge, Chengalpattu.

2. It is seen that this Court, while disposing the cases in Crl.O.P.Nos.31615 & 31611 of 2019 on 13.12.2022 had directed the trial Court to proceed with the case in Spl.C.C.No.9 of 2010 on day to day basis and decide the same at the earliest, preferably within a period of three moths from the date of receipt of copy of that order. Now, the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kancheepuram District at Chengalpattu, had sent a letter in Dis No.1775/BC/2023 dated 03.10.2023 sought for extension of time to complete the trial.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that there are 104 witnesses in this case and out of which, so far 60 witnesses have been examined, 12 witnesses have been dispensed with and the remaining witnesses are yet to be examined. He further submitted that the case now stands posted on 22.11.2023 and the respondent Police are taking earnest steps to complete the trial. Hence, he sought for extension of time.

Considering the reasons and the requests made by the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kancheepuram District at Chengalpattu as well as by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), this Court feels it appropriate to extend the time by four months and accordingly, it is extended by four months from today.
