This writ petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking for a direction to the 1st respondent to pay interest for the delay in sanctioning the payment of Gratuity, Commutation, Provident Fund and Earned leave. 1/3

It is the case of the petitioners that they were serving with Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation for more than 30 years. The petitioners had retired from service during the year 2018 and it is seen from the order that all the petitioners were permitted to retire from service. The retirement benefits of the petitioners was settled only during September 2019, nearly after an year and therefore, the petitioners have made a representation to the respondents to pay interest for the delay in paying the retirement benefits. Since the representation was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court seeking for appropriate direction.

Heard the submission of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing counsel appearing on behalf of 1st respondent.

Considering the limited relief as sought for by the petitioner in this writ petition, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the representation made by the petitioners and dispose of the same, strictly in accordance with the latest Judgment of this Court in [M.Suseela Bai Vs.The Government of Tamil Nadu, represented by its Principal Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Revenue Administration Department, Fort st.George, Chennai] reported in 2019 8 MLJ 129 and pass appropriate orders, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
