The petitioners who were arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 12.09.2023 for the offences registered under Sections 376 and 511 of IPC, in Crime No.644 of 2023, seek bail. 2.It is stated that when the defacto complainant was in the agricultural field looking after cattle, the accused had forcibly taken her and attempted to commit the offence of rape. When she shouted, the neighbouring people came around and rescued her. 3.One factor which is disturbing is that A1 is still absconding. 4.When the matter has come up earlier, the Court had called upon the counsel to give details about A1 as investigation can never commence or even be completed till all the accused have secured. 5.It is pointed out by the respondent that the present petitioners are from Orissa and Jharkhand and that there is every possibility of them absconding.

6.The learned counsel for the petitioners stated that the petitioners are innocents and that they were residing in the quarters of another company nearby and that on the next day, they were secured. 1/2 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

vkr 7.These are issues for trial, but since there is every possibility of the petitioners absconding, at this stage, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners.
