This Writ Petition has been filed seeking Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider the petitioner representation dated 03.01.2019, 05.11.2019 and 07.11.2019 to grant common symbol of "Television" for the petitioner political party for the forthcoming local body elections to be held during December 2019 or subsequently in the light of the earlier order passed by the Election Commission of India.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondent.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner being the President of a registered Political Party has made representation to the Election Commission to grant a common symbol of "Television" for the petitioner party candidates in the forthcoming Local Body Election likely to be held during the month of December 2019. Apprehending that in view of the amendment to the Tamil Nadu Local Bodies Elections Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 2016 which came into effect from 28.09.2016, the representation of the petitioner may not be positively considered, the present writ petition is filed. 4.The learned standing counsel appearing for the Election Commission/respondent took notice and states that the representation of the petitioner will be considered in accordance with law and the petitioner need not apprehended that his application will never be considered.

5.Recording the above said statement, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
