ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to sanction and disburse the medical reimbursement claim of the petitioner based on his representation dated 26.04.2025, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. In view of the order, which is going to be passed in this writ petition, notice to the respondent is dispensed with.
3. The case of the petitioner is that his wife was a retired Senior Civil Surgean and she was regularly contributing a portion of her salary towards the group health insurance scheme, under which, the petitioner was also covered in PPO No.C275102, ID Card No.CHN/B/NHISP14/0042164, as a beneficiary under the New Health Insurance Scheme, 2014 introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu for the benefit of Government employees and pensioners. Recently, the petitioner underwent angiogram treatment at Christian Medical College, Page No.2 of 6
Vellore due to cardiac complications and the total cost of his treatment has exceeded Rs.6.5 lakhs, out of which, only Rs.4,07,525/- was mentioned by the hospital for the procedures and in-patient care. In such a case, the petitioner was reimbursed only Rs.2,22,800/- by the respondent on 18.03.2025, without any breakdown or explanation for the deductions made. Therefore, he has made a detailed representation dated 26.04.2025 along with all supporting medical records before the respondent seeking medical reimbursement. Since the same was not considered by the respondent, the petitioner has filed this writ petition before this Court for appropriate orders.

Though very many grounds have been raised in this writ petition, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it would suffice, if this Court, issues a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 26.04.2025 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame that may be stipulated by this Court.

Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 26.04.2025 on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and aggrieved persons, if any.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
