O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondent Police to file a final report in Crime No.01/AC/2021/CC-I of 2021.

2. The brief facts of the case is that on the basis of the complaint given by one Jayakumar/de facto complainant alleging that the accused/ petitioner herein had demanded illegal gratification of Rs.15,000/- for giving new metro water supply and sewerage connection to the house of the de facto complainant' relative, the respondent Police has registered a case in Crime Crime No.01/AC/2021/CC-I of 2021 for the offence under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 1988, against the petitioner, who was working as Assistant, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board on 11.01.2021.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has been falsely implicated in this case. He also submitted that the First Information Report was filed during the year 2021 and 2/5

the respondent is not taking effective steps to file a final report, therefore, the present petition has been filed seeking a suitable direction to the respondent to file a final report.

Learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) submitted that the investigation in this case has been completed, the sanction has also been obtained from the authority concerned and the final report is also ready, however, since there are issues in e-filing, the respondent are unable to number the final report. Therefore, some reasonable time has to be given to the respondent to file the final report.

5. In view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Special Court for the cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chennai to take the final report on file and number it as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
