PRAYER: This Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus directing 1st and 3rd respondent to the petitioner representation dated 08.08.2025 to take immediate and effective steps to remove or property re-lay the Internet cables which are loosely hanging and obstructing the entrance of the petitioner's residence at No.10, Sabari Salai, Madipakkam, Chennai-600 091.

ORDER

The petitioner came forward with this writ petition seeking for a direction to remove the Internet cable wires which are running all around his house. Taking note of the fact that the cables are indeed operating as a nuisance for enjoyment of the property of the petitioner, I directed Mr.Prithvi Chopda to get instructions from the Secretary, Greater Chennai Corporation. I posted the matter today for production of instructions.

2. When I took up the matter, Mr.Chopda produced the 2/8

instructions of the Assistant Executive Engineer, Electrical Department, Zone-XIV, Greater Chennai Corporation, Puzhudhivakkam, Chennai-600 091.

3. A perusal of the instruction shows that the Assistant Executive Engineer convened a meeting with the Internet service providers and instructed them to remove the cables, which were obstructing the entrance of the house of the writ petitioner. It also states that appropriate instructions have been given to the cable providers to ensure that Chennai remains safe and well-managed in terms of public infrastructure. The instructions given to the service providers are also extracted hereunder:
