The petitioner seeks to have the error made in UDR corrected and had therefore made an application to the Revenue Divisional Officer, South Chennai Division, Guindy, Chennai, on 16.11.2021 and since the same was not processed, he has moved this Writ Petition for mandamus.

2. Heard the learned counsels on the either side and perused the records.

3. The authority competent to consider the application for correcting the UDR entries is the District Revenue Officer. Therefore, the learned Additional Government Pleader would submit that if an application is made to the District Revenue Officer, Chennai, the same would be considered.

Considering the above, the Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to submit an application to the District Revenue Officer, Chennai, within a period of 2 week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and within a period of 6 weeks, the District Revenue Officer, Chennai, shall proceed to dispose of the application, after affording opportunity to the petitioner to submit his records. The District Revenue Officer, Chennai, shall pass speaking orders. No costs.
