The petitioner seeks bail in Crime No.292 of 2023, registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 419 & 507 of IPC and later altered to Sections 294(b), 419, 507, 224 & 201 of IPC. The petitioner had been remanded to judicial custody on 10.10.2023.

2.It is the case of the prosecution that the petitioner, using the same mobile phone, which could be easily identified by the IMEI number, had called the defacto complainant and threatened him and stated that the petitioner is an IAS Officer and sought opportunities for two other persons in the Cinema field and when the defacto complainant stated that he would lodge a complaint, the petitioner had broken the SIM card but used the same phone to make yet another call. That would only establish the petitioner had actually made the call, since the phone can always be traced, whether the SIM card is changed or not. C.V.KARTHIKEYAN,J.
