Respondents Prayer.: Writ petition is filed under Article 227 of the Constitution of India, praying for a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to consider their application Nos.953 & 954 dated 25.03.2004 of the petitioners 1 and 2 and application of the 3rd petitioner vide application No.180/09-10 dated 02.12.2009 applied for free electricity service connections for their land in survey Nos.81/6, 162/581 and 150/1B in Pullavarayankudikadu and Pullavarayankudi-2 and land in Survey No.281/1C/1 of the Moovarkottai Village and issue service connection forthwith. O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents to consider their application Nos.953 & 954 dated 25.03.2004 of the petitioners 1 and 2 and application of the 3rd petitioner vide application No.180/09-10 dated 02.12.2009 applied for free electricity service connections for their land in Survey Nos.81/6, 162/581 and 150/1B in Pullavarayankudikadu and Pullavarayankudi-2 and land in Survey No.281/1C/1 of the Moovarkottai Village.

2. The petitioners are the owners of the agricultural lands and they had applied for free Agricultural Electricity service connection for their lands vide application Nos.951 and 954/03-2004 dated 25.03.2004 and another application vide No.180/09-10. But, till date, the respondents have not provided electricity service connection to them. Hence, the petitioners have filed the present writ petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners have also questioned the grant of free Agricultural Electricity service connection by the third respondent under Tatkal Scheme.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of this case, since the petitioners' representations are pending for more than 16 years and 11 years respectively, there shall be a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioners' application Nos.951 and 954/03-2004 dated 25.03.2004 and the subsequent application vide No.180/09-10 dated 02.12.2009 and dispose the same, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. This writ petition is disposed of with the above observation. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
