ORDER

This writ petition has been filed in the nature of Writ of Mandamus, seeking a direction to the respondents, particularly the 2nd respondent to release the vehicle of the petitioner bearing Reg.No.TN-39-BK-5837, which is the Bolero Pick Up vehicle.

2.The petitioner had given a representation on 20.07.2022 to the 2nd respondent. The petitioner vehicle was seized by the 2nd respondent on the allegation that about 1150 Kg of rice meant for public distribution was being transported in the said vehicle of the petitioner. 3.In this connection, I am informed that proceedings are now pending under Section 6 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, before the District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri.

4.Therefore, a direction is given to the petitioner to appear before the District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri District on 03.01.2023 between 11.00 a.m and 2.00 p.m and present necessary records and the 1st respondent / District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri, is directed to take a decision with respect to the release of the vehicle after following necessary provisions of law, but at any rate, take a decision on or before 20.01.2023, relating to the limited issue of the release of the vehicle of the petitioner. 5.With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
