JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.S.R.Karthikeyan, learned counsel for the appellant and Mr.C.Gautamaraj, learned counsel for the respondents.

2. The appellant is challenging the order of the learned Single Judge awarding 4% interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits, which were settled to him only after eight months of his retirement.

3. Learned counsel for the respondents fairly submitted that under similar circumstances, interest at the rate of 6% per annum was awarded for the delayed payment of terminal benefits and that the respondents are also inclined to pay the same to the appellant.

4. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits to the appellant. The directions of the learned Single

Judge in respect of other aspects remain unaltered.

5. The writ appeal is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
